Finbarr Lucas Pack of Four Handmade Wooden Coasters
About this piece
Handmade by Sheffield based Furniture Designer, Finbarr Lucas each coaster is a combination of 55 tiny rectangles of hardwood timber, finished with hard glaze and fitted with silicone feet.
The process of making these coasters came from Finbarr wanting to make use of the offcut pieces from making his ‘tuck-in’ trivets, as this involves cutting two small pieces from each fork blank to create its handle. The leftover wood pieces are identical in size and with bags of them created, so the idea of making another beautiful item from them was too tempting to resist.
Measures 8.5cm x 8.5cm.
Available in the gallery as singles at £10.50 each.

Care Instructions
This coaster is made from 55 pieces of hardwood timber. We take every care to ensure that it will give you many years of trouble-free use. However, wood is a natural product and the way that you treat this coaster will make a difference to how well it lasts.
Washing and drying
To ensure this coaster lasts for a long time, always dry it immediately after it becomes wet..
For occasional cleaning, a wipe with a damp cloth should suffice. Allow the coaster to dry thoroughly before use.
If you need to clean this coaster more thoroughly, do not wash in a dishwasher.
Never leave this coaster soaking or standing in water.
When handwashing, do not use strong detergents or abrasive cleaning materials. For best results,
Wash with a mild detergent and dry immediately.
Storage
Do not store in a cupboard or other place which suffers from damp.
If this coaster is kept in a sunny location, bear in mind that its colour may fade over time.
Refinishing
This coaster has been finished with ‘Finney’s hard glaze’ and then rubbed with a small amount of finishing wax. Although it should not require more coats, if the coaster is used daily and washed frequently, or if it is used predominantly with hot or wet mugs or glasses, you may wish to refresh the wax finish from time to time.
To refinish, purchase a pot of furniture finishing wax. Wash and thoroughly dry the coaster. Apply a thin coat of wax using a piece of cloth or paper towel, then buff off after a few minutes. Do not use the coaster for 24 hours after applying the wax.
