Courtney Kyle 'Material World' Original Painting
About this piece
Acrylic on canvas. From the ‘High Frequency’ series of abstracts created between 2020 and 2024. The paintings in this series are off-shoots of the 500 project and have been worked, re-worked, and experimented on.
50cm x 50cm x 2cm
About the artist
Kyle currently lives in Sheffield but grew up in America. Before becoming a UK resident in 2024, Kyle could not sell her artwork as a side business due to the work visa rules. Because of this, Kyle started a project called “the 500” and has now given away over 350 artworks internationally and in Sheffield, leaving them around the city to be found by passers by as a surprise gift.
Growing up, Wassily Kandinsky’s music-inspired works resonated with her the most and music is the main influence of Kyle’s art today. Working in the abstract allows her to create imprints of emotions, sensations, and feelings like an energetic fingerprint.
She creates rhythms and beats within her art which she hopes generate similar sensations for those who experience her work.
